Money for college-Save money while in college

After paying so much money for tuition, you are hit with a variety of costs necessary things like textbooks and food.Whats a student to do? We have to spend money on these things. That is true, but we can do thing to save money on them by doing things like:

1. Using the library- Student spending for books and supplies has risen from a national average of $619 in the 1999-2000 school year to $807 in 2002-2003, according to the National Association of College Stores.(Seattle Post-Inteligencer). Textbooks in college are expensive,to save money try to borrow books from the library or a friend. If you'll need to, try to photocopy the information, especially , if you'll have to keep referring to it.

2.Cooking vs. eating out- Eating out can be convenient but ,doing it too often, can burn holes in your pocket. Try the healthier alternative instead , cook your meals. To save time, cook sizable quantities , enough to last throughout the week. If you need a snack try to use tinned food for this use purpose. You may for example try to prepare a nice tuna fish sandwich.Yum :)

3.Opt to study as much as you can throughout the day instead of nights. That is ,if your living situation is such that you have to pay for electricity, this can reduce electricity cost.

4.Trying to get housing near to campus ,the rent may be higher, but the saving in bus fare or gas money will make this a worthwhile investment.

5.Carpooling or take the bus, if you live at a distance from campus, to try to to save on money spent on gas

6.Investing in good quality clothing. Its better to buy fewer good quality pieces that can be worn next semester than buying a greater number of cheaper clothes which wont even last till then.
